For description of positions available please read below. If you do not see a position that matches the goals you are trying to reach we will work with you to design and internship that meets your needs. No prior experience necessary! We will train you!
Candidate shall complete Volunteer Training and Orientation. The individual must be empathetic with a complete understanding of our mission to serve the special needs community. One must posses sound judgment, maturity, humility, good decision making skills and a servant’s heart. CPR, first aide training is desirable. Must be willing to do whatever needs to be done; excellent team worker.
Just a Few Internship Possibilities
Positive Youth Development Intern
Seeking an energetic, patient, and understanding individual to assist with our “Positive Youth Development” programs. Candidate will assist in a group setting with “at risk” youth during equine – assisted, life skill, and creative activities. Research pertaining to experiential equine assisted activities, and assisting in day to day operations of our center will also be important. Our horses are a vital part of our programs. Equine – Barn Assistant duties are a must: cleaning stalls, feeding, grooming, and turning in/out horses along with basic horsemanship knowledge and skills.
Equine Assisted Activities & Therapies Lesson Intern
Seeking an energetic, patient and encouraging individual to assist in Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies. Duties will include: side-walking, horse handling – leading, assisting Instructors during lessons, and interacting with program participants. Our horses are a vital part of our program. Equine – Barn Assistant duties are a must: cleaning stalls, feeding, grooming, and turning in/out horses along with basic horsemanship knowledge and skills. Research pertaining to equine assisted activities, and assisting in day to day operations of our center will be important.
Barn/Animal Care Intern
Seeking an energetic, patient and encouraging individual to assist in the management of our barn and the care of our horses. Duties will include: horse handling, cleaning stalls, feeding, grooming, turning in/out horses, feeding, putting out hay, filling water troughs/buckets and other activities necessary in order to make the program a success. Willingness to assist with lesson related duties is also a must: tacking, sidewalking, leading, interacting with program participants and assisting Instructors when needed.
